Leaf pick up

The schedule for leaf pick up rotates around the city from year to year and this year is our turn to be first.  The city crew could be here as early as Wednesday.

So, partly because not all of the leaves are off the trees in the back yard just yet, but also partly because we now have men do the yard clean up and as a condition of their participation they request mowing of the lawn throughout the fall which means that the on the ground leaves are chopped and mulched resulting in just plain fewer leaves available to make the big pile, so because of all of those factors our pile is not quite as epic as it has been some times in the past.
There is also the issue that when I was the pile creator I always deliberately went for stack height by limiting width.  The fellows today embraced width.

It is still a lot of leaves, though.

The big new tree looks good, having rapidly recovered from the fall moulting, having dropped all of the yellow needles and standing ready for winter looking like a tree becoming pretty comfortable in its new environment.

We hope so.

It is our second favorite tree that we have ever planted.

It feels like the trees went from colorful to bare really fast this year.

The big new tree does look nice -- and even better, healthy.

I really enjoy that we both posted about raking without any prior discussion. Excellent pile, although I agree that it's not quite as epic as past years. Still, not having to do it yourself is pretty great.

BNT looks to be in excellent health. Any chance you'll be able to get a photo of your most favorite tree in this month?

I love the BNT! But I missed raking leaves with GZ and Emily M.
