Commodities futures

It rained here today, too. There was a period in mid-morning when the wind, the lake and the rain combined for a pretty elemental display.

During a break in the action we ventured into the commodities markets. Apparently we believe that the price of blueberries is going to rise and that we will be able to sell at a profit. In anticipation of the price rise we have laid in a large quantity of blueberries. The truth is that there is another one of those boxes around here somewhere as I distinctly remember leaving Bowerman's with four of those five pound boxes. I note that there also seems to be chocolate cake.

After evening meal my spousal unit and I were both underexercised for the day so we walked on down the beach in the direction of the state park. The lake sometimes adds sand to the beach and sometimes takes it away. The current run of weather has eaten into this area of the beach exposing an ancient erosion control device which has been buried for at least several years. If the owners of that stretch of lake front are not vigilant they are going to lose that hammock.

Here's SU a few yards further along. The sun had been behind the storm clouds all day long and was just about to dip into full view.We had a nice walk along the beach, eventually passing the starting point and continuing along the beach all the way to the county park. We returned to the deck and I got this shot of the sun as it approached the horizon.Despite the rain it was another nice day in West Michigan.

The waves were pretty spectacular there for a while. And I think we're set for blueberries at least until I go home on Tuesday. :-)

We've been eating about 5 lbs. of blues a day, which just MUST abate eventually.

The erosion of the foredune is impressive. Mother Nature bats last.
