Mundane existence resumes

Today we both made the long ride around Falcon Heights and settled into an abbreviated northern tour. We made an unannounced stop at Autumn Grove for a view of the spot where one of our softball players once admitted that no, that was not the absolute fastest that she could run.We hit the area which we now officially refer to as the roller coaster and were dumped out at the end of those up and down streets on South Owasso. We stopped for this photo because I like orange. The end of the ride passed within the width of Roselawn of Falcon Heights at which point we were pleased to discover that the excess stone has been swept up and the loose gravel signs have been removed. We were displeased to note that they swept the street ends but did not sweep Roselawn between the streets. There are several thousand loose stone chips between the various streets, probably only about ten percent of which have oil on them. The result is that the streets themselves are now relatively okay to ride. The problem now will be that you cannot ride the areas of Roseville approaching Falcon Heights.

However, as the BP mess is revealing, the oil will gradually evaporate. All of us who bicycle have seen this process play out many times and we know that after a couple of weeks everything is more or less back to normal.

Nice enough day for a ride here as I suspect it also was at the junction of FF and U.

FC Nantes has opened the 2010 season with a promising but ultimately disappointing result in the first round of the League Cup. Nantes and Boulogne tied in regulation, Nantes scored first in extra time to lead 2-1 only to suffer the disappointment of Boulogne drawing even. The game went to penalty kicks and Boulogne prevailed on its home grounds.

Ligue 2 play begins next weekend, FC Nantes gets the Monday game against regional rival LeMans.
