Scene of woe in my front yard

It's always something, right?  In my front yard right now the ash tree is giving up its leaves with a suddenness that I remark upon every year because every year I am surprised.  One day pretty much green, a couple of days later, pretty much yellow, a couple of days later, pretty much bare.  It goes unbelievably fast as the give up ash tree takes only about a week from start to finish.

But who even cares about the ash tree?

Instead I got a photo of the big new tree which looks to me to be in fine fettle as it approaches its second dark season on our lawn.
Oh, wait, you noticed that other thing too?

Overnight rain and high winds today, conditions completely unsuitable for bicycling.  TOPWLH noticed around noon that the mail box was leaning.

We were surprised, we had had no previous clue that the health of the mail box post was in doubt.

By late afternoon:  Dead mailbox.

It's always something.

It is definitely fall.  There are always lots of signs of the change of season and we are about to participate in one of those definite signs.  In about 15 minutes we will be setting out from here to attend our first hockey game of yet another promising new season.  They don't play hockey in the summertime.

Well, actually, of course they do.  But they don't play games that count in the summer time.  Tonight's game is a game that counts.

Rotted mailbox post. I hate that.

'Tis the season for leaf drops, I suppose. We've got wind stripping the leaves off our trees today -- and dropping acorns on our roof with annoying regularity.
