Return of April

It rained overnight but stopped by mid morning. As noon appeared so did the sun, making me believe that it just might end up being a pretty nice day for April.

Yup, April again.

But the sun did come out and it was a nice day for April when I headed out of the driveway.

That lasted about two miles and then the clouds gathered back together and started to show some real possibility of restarting the rain. It stayed that way for about an hour and a quarter.

The sun reemerged after that to make for a day in which I spent the absolute WORST part of the day outdoors.

Thanks OK, a day with an excuse to be outside is a good day.

It was grey for most of the ride but near the end I got a photo of the flowering shrub that has been the first flowers I have seen in a couple of recent years. It is too late to be first this time but the shrub is making a nice show anyway. The sun is out, it is cool, but the sun is out.

Today's milestone: I have the same number of miles this year on NewLOOK as on the Axis. In a testament to the featherweight of NewLOOK and to the fact that I ride it after building early season endurance on the Axis, I achieved the same number of miles on NewLOOK in two fewer rides.

The start of the season is now over. It is full fledged bicycle season. Now if we could just have a few days when I could dress for bicycle season I would declare myself to be satisfied. Short sleeves and shorts, that's what I want.

Stay tuned.

If it is April, May can't be too far behind.

Flowering shrub season is a good way to start off the real bicycle season.
