It appears that the Town and Country club, location of these trees (Marshall and Otis) is contemplating some sort of development on the unused, for golf, corner of the golf course. I do not know what is being proposed but I now know that the proposal does not meet with the approval of the neighbors.I think of myself as pretty green and I agree with the neighbors that whatever happens there is likely to be less attractive than those trees. Certainly it has happened to us here in Roseville where the Midland Hills Country Club carved off a few acres of land it owned on the road to the golf course and had condos built. The condos are, like, way ugly. The golf course was better.
Still, this is another case of if you want to control what happens on that piece of land you better own it. No parties came forward in Roseville to offer to buy the land from Midland Hills to have it preserved in perpetuity as idle land next to a golf course. I suspect the same is true in Saint Paul. Presumably Town and Country has a little cash flow problem which they seek to solve by doing something with a highly developable corner location not currently being used by the golf course.
It may not be pretty but . . .
The Agriculture/Horticulture Building at the Fair has been looking pretty shabby the last few years. A complete repaint is nearly complete. The old paint job was plain white with if I recall correctly a green sign above each door. My opinion is that the new paint job looks better.
Until today each and every appearance near the head of the field at the end of the race by Mark Cavendish has featured a cyborg like superiority of acceleration that left other all other sprinters shaking their heads. Today with about 20 meters to go to the line Cavendish suddenly sat up. Pettachi was going to win, Cav knew it, and if he couldn't win he wasn't going to try any more. Cavendish is human after all.

Uncle Al once said, "If you think you own your property, try not paying your property taxes for a while. You'll find out who really owns it." Still, I agree with you.
Isn't Pettachi a little old for winning sprint stages?
