Arrivée à Paris

Over the years I have on several occasions heard my brother conversationally note that he would like to attend all four of the tennis grand slam tournaments (the Australian Open in Melbourne, the French Open in Paris, the Wimbledon Championships and the U.S. Open in New York). As of our most recent visit to our sister late last summer he had been to none.

Last year's visit to our sister's occurred after my last day at the plant. With nothing else firm on my schedule for the end of May 2010 I had decided that I was going to the French Open and I asked my brother if he was coming along.

So today, here is my brother and I on the balcony of the apartment we have rented for the fortnight on Rue Saint- Honoré, a block and a half from the Louvre. We are going to the French Open.

The very first time that Wireless brought her parents to France we visited her first where she was studying in Nantes. She then brought us to Paris where we checked into a hotel near Gare Montparnasse fairly deep into the west bank.

She then loaded us into the Metro and rode us down to the Concorde Metro stop. We walked up the stairs turned the corner and this is what we saw. I stood today in the same spot and took a picture. The timing of the flight to Europe is such that I haven't had more than a few minutes of sleep in the past 24 hours and I am starting to wind down, I am tres knackered. So that's it for today, we are in Paris.
