2011 in Saint Denis

My brother and I visited the Paris suburb of Saint Denis when we were in France in 2011.

The primary attraction was the very spectacular Basilique de Saint Denis, the Basilica of Saint Denis.
We were not in Paris.  But we were at a spectacular old building with a hugely important role in the history of France.  More information about that is available in my post from that day.

Here is a photo I didn't post that day, it is a photo taken by my brother of the "working man's cafe of uncertain ethnicity" where we had lunch.
We spoke only a little bit of French.  They spoke only a little bit of English.  But we asked them for directions to the major edifice of that suburb and between us we understood enough that they pointed the way to where we wanted to go.

Stade de France.
Vive la France.  Je suis Paris.

Thanks, Dad. Excellent.

This seems like the perfect post to remember Saint Denis and the Stade de France by rather than the latest pictures of it and the neighborhood during and after the suicide bombers attacks. Thanks.

Jim's post from that day highlighted the same places. Fortunately, the past cannot be altered, and that day will always exist just as it was then.
