I have been mostly not doing very much as I try to recover from the usual travel weariness. Travel is hard.
So it took me until today to review the final photos I took from the deck.
Soaring raptors, riding the updraft at the edge of the dune, putting on a pretty spectacular display. There were five of them and at first we thought they might be immature eagles.
Eventually we got enough of a close up look to identify them as the unfortunately yclept turkey vulture.
The name may be ugly but in flight these birds were marvelous, simply marvelous.

That was a pretty good show. Too bad about the turkey vulture part, but watching those 5 birds soaring in the updrafts was cool.
