Nantes returned to Ligue 2 play with 2-1 home victory over Châteauroux. Newly acquired Stephan Babovic was in the starting lineup and played the entire 90 minutes but the key plays were made by holdover Nicolas Goussé. Goussé, who is French, scored the first and the last goals of the game. Nantes led 1-0 at the half.
The other new acquisition, Filip Djordjevic, was available for duty and in fact, came on in the second half replacing Goussé after the latter's second goal.
Nantes now leads second place Le Havre by six points although they have played two more games than Le Havre. Le Havre plays Monday night at Brest.
With competition suddenly intensified for playing time among the attackers, Nantes team president Waldemar Kita announced at a press conference that an imminent departure for Romanian Claudiu Keserü was possible. Keserü has been with the team since 2003 but his days appear to be numbered.
